The Barrockstadt Train Station is not an ordinary station. The station is also an aviary, which houses birds that are part of the prestigious University of Barrockstadt ornithological collection. There are some of the most fantastic species from all over the world. The aviary is the pride of the University. Taking care of the birds is the responsibility of the Barrockstadt Stationmaster.
Appearance[]
The station has two platforms for the trains and a dock for water vehicles. It is filled with greenery and birds of many species from all over the world.
While entering the station, the player is met with the dock on the left, the flood gate on the right and a bridge leding above the water canal to the first platform in front.
When arriving on the first platform by the bridge, there are two sets of stairs leading from the bridge to the left and right as well as another bridge leading to the second platform in front. To the left there is a small beach and to the right there is an exit leading to a dirt path leading to the Wall.
When arriving on the second platform by the bridge, on the way to the left is blocked off by boxes, to the right there is a ladder leading to the mechanical eagle, and in front there is a small path leading to the Garden.
History[]
Before Syberia[]
The Barrockstadt Train Station was turned into an aviary many years ago to let students learning ornithlogy at the University. It allowed them to study live birds as it was believed that observation of living matter is indissociable from theoretical questions.
One day Alexandre Valembois, a fameous explorer introduced a couple of cuckoos from Amerzone to the University. That disturbed the inter-special harmony in the aviary. Cuckoos started laying their eggs in the nests of other species and pushing the host's eggs out of the nest so that their babies recieve all of the mother's attention. Unfortunatelly nothing could have been done about the issue as the faculty declared the bird a protected species.
The aviary would be on the edge of a major ornithological catastrophe, if not for Hans Voralberg, who constructed a mechanical eagle, mounted on rails in the air. It would pass through and swoop down, collecting parasite eggs. Unfortunatelly the eagle broke after Hans left Barrockstadt and noone was able to fix it.
Syberia[]
The mechanical Eagle has been out of order for several years. Since then the cukoo eggs have been piling up in the nests.
During that time Kate Walker arrived at the station in the clockwork train piloted by Oscar. She needed to find a winding mechanism in order for the train to drive again and for them to continue their jurney. She met the Stationmaster and had a brief talk with him. Later she found the winding machine next to the Wall and realised she has to find a way to move the train to it. She returned to the station where she met the Barge couple who's been staying at the station during that time. They agreed to tow the train to the Wall, for a cash price.
Kate managed to get the money and the Barge couple towed the train from the station.
